The unit covers income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements, their construction, underlying accounting conventions, and how stakeholders including investors, creditors and managers use them to evaluate organisational performance.

The unit examines the components of aggregate demand and supply, the causes and consequences of inflation, unemployment and economic growth, and the fiscal and monetary policy tools governments use to manage the macroeconomy.
Explore the obligations that businesses have towards their stakeholders and the wider society in which they operate. The unit examines ethical frameworks and their application to corporate decision-making, evaluates corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies and reporting practices, and considers the relationship between responsible business conduct and long-term commercial sustainability.
Study the legal framework that governs the relationship between employers and employees in the UK. The unit covers the contract of employment, statutory rights under the Equality Act 2010 and the Employment Rights Act 1996, redundancy and unfair dismissal, and the role of Employment Tribunals in resolving workplace disputes.
Apply the research, analytical and written communication skills developed across the qualification to an independently chosen business topic. You formulate a research question, gather and critically evaluate evidence, and present a sustained, well-argued piece of extended writing, demonstrating the intellectual independence expected of a university-level student.
