Common questions about studying online
Answers to the questions we hear most often from new learners.
How long does it take to complete a learndirect course?
Most courses are designed to be completed in 6 to 12 months when studied around full-time work or family commitments. You can study at your own pace and most courses give you up to 12 months of access. Are learndirect courses recognised by employers and universities?
Yes. Our courses are accredited by leading UK awarding bodies including Pearson, NCFE CACHE, TQUK, Active IQ, CMI, BCS and AQA. Higher Technical Qualifications are validated by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) and recognised across the country.Do I need any qualifications to enrol?
Most courses have no formal entry requirements – just a willingness to learn. A few higher-level qualifications (Level 5+) may ask for a relevant Level 3 or work experience. The course page will list any specific requirements. Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. We offer interest-free monthly payment plans on most courses, with deposits from as little as 10%. Higher Technical Qualifications are funded through Student Finance England, so you pay nothing upfront. What support will I get while studying?
You get a dedicated subject-expert tutor who marks your assignments and answers your questions by email. Our learner support team is available by phone Monday to Saturday for anything else – from tech help to study planning. What happens when I complete the course?
You receive a nationally recognised certificate from the awarding body. Many learners use their qualification to progress to university, apply for a new job, get a promotion, or start their own business. Our careers team can help you plan your next steps. Is online learning right for me?
Online learning suits anyone who needs flexibility – working adults, parents, carers, or people who prefer self-paced study. You will need self-discipline and reliable internet access, but you set your own schedule and study from wherever you like. Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
Yes. We offer a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of enrolment, in line with UK consumer law. After that, refund eligibility depends on how much of the course you have accessed. The full policy is on our refunds page.
