The Cyber Security Accelerator Programme is a structured, sequential pathway through four of CompTIA's most widely recognised IT and cyber security certifications: CompTIA Tech+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and CompTIA Security+. Delivered entirely online through the official CompTIA CertMaster Learn platform, the programme is designed to take learners from foundational computing literacy through to professional-level cyber security competence.
The programme is built around a sequential gate model: learners access one unit at a time, must pass the corresponding CompTIA certification exam before unlocking the next unit, and have up to 24 months from registration to complete all four stages. This structure mirrors the real-world progression of IT professionals who build their knowledge systematically, ensuring that each new unit is tackled with the prerequisites already in place. One exam voucher is included per unit, covering the cost of a single attempt at each certification.
CompTIA Tech+ (formerly IT Fundamentals+) is the entry point, covering computing basics, data fundamentals, networking, software, and security awareness. It is the ideal starting point for career changers who want to confirm that technology is the right path before committing to deeper study. CompTIA A+ is the industry standard for IT support technicians, covering hardware, operating systems, troubleshooting, and cloud basics across two exams (Core 1 and Core 2). It is the most widely held entry-level IT certification in the world and is recognised by virtually every major employer in the sector.
CompTIA Network+ builds the networking knowledge that underpins all cyber security work — TCP/IP, subnetting, routing protocols, wireless networking, and network troubleshooting in hybrid environments. CompTIA Security+ is the most important milestone on the pathway, covering threat analysis, vulnerability management, cryptography, identity and access management, incident response, and governance frameworks. Security+ is vendor-neutral, globally recognised, and specifically listed in the US Department of Defense Directive 8570 as a baseline qualification for personnel in information security roles.
Upon completing all four certifications, learners hold a portfolio that demonstrates both practical IT competence and theoretical security knowledge, positioning them for roles including security operations centre (SOC) analyst, IT support technician, network administrator, and junior penetration tester. The programme is equally suitable for those entering the workforce and for existing IT professionals who want to validate and formalise their skills with globally recognised credentials.
