The Access to Higher Education Diploma (Radiography) is a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification, awarded by OCNL (Open College Network London) and regulated by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). It is specifically designed for adults who want to enter diagnostic or therapeutic radiography degree study without traditional A-level qualifications.
Radiography combines clinical patient care with advanced medical imaging technology, and the diploma reflects this dual nature. It covers Physics (atomic physics, medical imaging, X-ray imaging, electricity, waves, motion, energy and forces), Biology (the body’s major systems, cells, genetics, and cardiovascular physiology), Chemistry (chemical energetics, the mole concept, and biological molecules), and Mathematics (algebra, calculus, and numerical methods). All 16 units are mapped directly to the scientific foundation expected by radiography degree programmes.
The course is delivered entirely online with no campus attendance or fixed timetable. You submit assignments through our learning platform at your own pace, supported by a dedicated personal tutor who provides detailed written feedback on every unit. Most learners complete in 9–12 months.
Assessment is entirely portfolio and assignment-based — no examinations. Grades of Pass, Merit, or Distinction across your units determine your UCAS points and your competitiveness for radiography degree entry.
